William E. Whinna Iii

June 17, 1950 — August 29, 2021

William E. Whinna III, 71, of Wildwood, passed away on August 29, 2021. Bill was born and resided in Westville before moving to Wildwood 13 years ago. He was a tool & die maker for the UAW #834 in Philadelphia, a Gloucester County Sheriffs Officer, and a security officer at Underwood Memorial Hospital. Bill was a 3rd degree Mason, with Audubon Parkside Lodge #218, a member of The Shriners, and of the Wildwood Elks.
Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years Joan (nee Hughes) Whinna; daughter Christina (Phillip Jr.) Neff of Paulsboro; son William (Melissa) Whinna IV; sisters Dorothy Umba, Donna (Frank) Good & Jean (Charles) McAleer; brother Lester (Barbara) Whinna and 4 grandchildren Dylan, Taylor, Christopher & Hunter.
Bill was first and foremost a family man who loved his daily walks on the sea wall and rides on the Cape May-Lewis Ferry with his beloved wife and spending time with his grandchildren. He was always the loudest one cheering at his grandsons' wrestling matches, football, hockey, and baseball games. He loved going to the Wildwood boardwalk and watching his first grandchild Dylan ride his favorite thrill rides. His only granddaughter, his little princess, always brought him great joy through her artwork, her horseback riding, and her love for animals. He was known for dancing to his Doo-Wop music with his beloved wife, daughter, and sisters. One of his famous sayings was, "Family is all that matters," and for that reason, he fought cancer for 22 years, yet lived life to its fullest with his family. He was our family hero.
