Walter L. Spicer Jr., 78, passed away on January 21, 2012. Walt was born in Long Island, NY and was a life time resident of Woodbury. Walt retired from the Woodbury Post Office after 33 years of service. He was the co-owner of the Medford Township News with his son, Walt, for almost 40 years. He was a property owner and landlord of many homes in North Woodbury and worked security for US Security in Deptford for the past 5 years.
Walt graduated from Woodbury Highschool in 1952 and attended Rutgers University. He attended every football game since and was a member of the Chain Gang for many years. He had a life long dedication to the students and his children established the Walt Spicer Woodbury Thundering Herd Football Scholarship 6 years ago. He was a member of the Highschool Alumni Association and the Gloucester County Stag Club.
Walt was predeceased by parents Walter Sr. & Thelma Spicer and his sister Jeanette "Bubbles" Ford. He is survived by his loving wife of 58years Claire Mann Spicer; son Walter III (Dorrie) of South Harrison; daughter Debbie (John) Annarelli of O'Fallon, Missouri and 4 grandchildren Stephanie, Melissa, Michael, & Zachary.
Visitation Friday 6 to 9pm & Saturday 9am until the service at 11am at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES 171 Delaware St. Woodbury, NJ.
