Robert Rapp

October 20, 1950 — July 31, 2018

Robert Rapp,67, of Swedesboro, passed away on July 31, 2018. Robert/Bob was a loving, kind, compassionate, empathetic, humble, hardworking man. He grew up in Teaneck, NJ. He earned his Bachelors Degree at Glassboro State and a Masters Degree at the University of Illinois. Robert met several of his closest friends at Glassboro State. After graduating from college, he spent 9 months traveling the country with one of his friends, Jack Altersitz. It was through Jack that he met Lucy. He married Lucy and they were together for 10 years before her passing in 1997. Robert was a teacher for several years and devoted his life to public service, working with children as an education coordinator and as a director of a childrens home. He later worked for the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America and was devoted to the people and mission of the MSAA, retiring in 2016. Because of his collegial, collaborative style, he rose to the top administrative positions.
It was at the MSAA that he met his wife, Jil, 19 years ago. Over the years he and Jil enjoyed the theater, concerts, sports events and travelling to many states and countries together and with family and friends.
Robert found his greatest joy with his family that included his mom, his wife, his brother and sister-in-law, children and grandchildren. He loved spending time with them and considered the time with them very precious.
One of Roberts greatest interests was horse racing. His curiosity started at a young age and grew to be a passion for the intrigue. 'It wasnt the winning as much as the mystery.' He studied the horses, their backgrounds, their jockeys, their names, and their physiques. He found them fascinating creatures that he enjoyed watching. Robert also loved soccer and baseball and was an avid Red Sox fan. He also loved music, especially Springsteen and Dylan, but he loved all genres of music, including country, opera, folk, and rock. He even attended Woodstock.
Robert expressed that he lived a good, full life, where he was 'surrounded by great people and was truly blessed.'
Robert is predeceased by his father, Charles. He is survived by his wife, Jil, his mother Carmella, his brother Charles (Linda), his children, Hillary, Robert (Kelly), and Jacki (Patrick), Kaitlyn, and Christopher (Valerie) and the grandchildren, Ava, Reese, Liam, Kyle, Jack, Noah, Robert, Lucy, Elliot, Luke, and Carson.
