Quintin Charles Pflasterer, 87, of West Deptford, on March 26, 2012. He was an electrician for Monsanto Chemical Co. in Bridgeport for 40 years retiring in 1990.
Quintin served in the US Navy during WWII from April 1943 to May 1946. He received his basic training at Farragut, Idaho. From there he was sent to the University of Minneapolis for basic electrical training. Quintin was then sent to Orange, TX to be assigned to the USS Dale W. Peterson(DE 377), a destroyer escort. He served as an electrician's mate second class aboard this ship for four trips as an escort for troop ships and tankers with destinations to Naples, Italy(2x), Southampton, England(1x) & Cardiff, Whales(1x).
Following those assignments, he went to Gyro Compass School in Norfolk, Virginia. After completing the four-month program at that school, he was assigned to the USS Incredible(AM249), a minesweeper, and served in the China Sea near Shanghi, China.
Quintin received the Victory Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal, the European Africian Middle Eastern Area Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Ribbon.
Quintin was predeceased by his wife Bernice Wild in 1994. He is survived by 2 daughters Linda Absil of West Deptford & Nancy Kempf of Wilmington, NC; son James of Palo Alto, CA & 6 grandchildren Nicolette Absil, LCpl. Christopher Absil, Tyler Kempf, Zoe, Heidi & Haley Pflasterer.
Visitation Thursday 9:30am until the Funeral Service at 11am at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES 171 Delaware St. Woodbury, NJ. Interment with Military Honors, Eglington Cemetery.
