Marie Evans

Marie Fewkes Evans, 83, of West Deptford, passed away after a long illness on December 12, 2018. Marie was born in Swedesboro; she grew up and graduated from Woodbury High School in 1953. She graduated from Glassboro State College in 1975 with a degree in teaching. She was married to Douglas A. Evans, Jr in 1957 and moved to West Deptford in 1961 where she raised her family. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Woodbury for over 50 years. She was the leader of the Lucky Clover 4-H Club for 25 years, teaching many children how to cook and sew, she was an accomplished seamstress, specializing in machine embroidery, an artist working with many different fabric mediums, member of the Embroidery Guild, avid cook, member of the local gourmet club, loved to travel, camp and ski with her family and friends. She was also a member of the Jersey Skitters Ski Club. She had traveled through all 50 states, and around the world taking tremendous amounts of photos.Marie also loved swimming in her pool.
Marie was predeceased by her husband Douglas A. Evans in 2006. She is survived by her children Joyce (Gary) Mixner of Mantua & Douglas W. (Carmella) of Newark, DE; sister Barbara Holmes of FL; 3 grandchildren Amanda & Cameron Mixner and Mary Rose Evans;great grandson Romn and many nieces & nephews.
Visitation Friday January 4, 2019 10am until the service at 11am at the Presbyterian Church at Woodbury 67 S. Broad St. under the direction of DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or Gloucester County 4H Association c/o Marie Evans 254 County House Rd. Clarksboro, NJ 08020.
