Kathryn Brewer Moore passed away peacefully at home in West Deptford Township, NJ on November 23, 2022. She was 97 years old. Kathryn was born on August 13, 1925, in Woodbury, NJ. She was raised on her family's dairy farm, Strawberry Vale, in the Parkville section of West Deptford Township and graduated from Paulsboro High School. When she was 16, a family friend recommended her for a job at the Campbell Soup Company in Camden, NJ. She stayed 49 years before retiring in 1990 from coordinating the transportation department.
During WWII, Kathryn helped as she could, including volunteering as a hostess at the USO in Woodbury.
As a young adult, Kathryn was active in Swedesboro Chapter No. 115 Order of the Eastern Star, which her Mother had helped to found in 1919. She served as Worthy Matron from 1967-1968 with her Father serving as her Worthy Patron. Her sister, Henrietta followed her as worthy matron in 1968 and Judy in 1969. As she got older, Kathryn cultivated her skills as an award-winning rosarian - maintaining extensive gardens with wide varieties of roses both in Roxborough and at Strawberry Vale.
The role Kathryn was most fond of, however, was that of the "cool" aunt. Kathryn was the epitome of style and grace at large family gatherings throughout the 1960's, 1970's, and 1980's. She was a frequent attendee of a wide variety of programs, graduations, and parties to celebrate the accomplishments of her 10 nieces and nephews.
Among Kathryns many hobbies were sewing and cooking. She sewed a lot of her own clothes, including all her Eastern Star gowns. She was also adept at needlepoint. She took great pride in her cooking and baking, and much to her chagrin will be remembered best for her chocolate sauce and marshmallow salad. She was also an avid sport fan, faithfully following the Phillies, Eagles and Phil Mickelson. Each spring she looked forward to the Philadelphia Flower Show.
Kathryn was predeceased by her brothers Adelbert & Harold Moore; her sisters Henrietta Moore & Judith Steward and her longtime companion James Morris. She is survived by her nieces & nephews (Harry Moore, Linda Moore, Janet Moore, Harold Moore, Mary Moore Dees, Matthew Moore, Vivian Moore Stefany, Nancy Moore Gregal, James Steward & Jonathan Steward); her grandnieces & nephews; her cousin and friend Thomas Moore, and her long-time friends Holly Broszeit & Thomas Ward.
