Karen J. Bosworth

Karen J. Bosworth, 70, of Lakeland, FL, formally of Woodbury, NJ, passed away on September 10, 2015. Karen devoted her life to education. After graduating from Woodbury High School, class of 1963, she continued her education receiving a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education from West Virginia University. Karen returned home and began her teaching career in 1967 at Woodbury Jr. Sr. High School. The next year she moved to Florida where she taught physical education at Lakeland Junior High from 1968 to 1971 and at Seth Mc Keel Junior High from 1971 to 1980. After she earned her Masters degree and then her Specialist degree in Guidance from the University of Central Florida she continued at Seth Mckeel as guidance counselor from 1980 through 1984. In 1984 she transferred to Mulberry High School as guidance counselor where she retired in 2010. She was known to always go the extra mile in helping her students in the classroom and in their extra curricular activities and supporting their families as the students completed their high school education . She is also remembered as a great support person and mentor to her coworkers.

Karen was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Ruth Bosworth and a twin brother, Lance Bosworth, all of Woodbury, and is survived by her brother, Brian (Ruth Ann) Bosworth of Woodbury; 2 nieces, Regina and Katherine Bosworth and 3 nephews, Chris, Scott and Ross Bosworth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Karen Bosworth Guidance Fund at Mulberry High School, C/O Ruth Ferking, One Panther Place, NE 4th Circle, Mulberry, Florida, 33860.

Private graveside service was September 15 at Fernwood Cemetery, Lansdowne, PA under the direction of DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL HOME Woodbury, NJ. A Celebration of Life Reception for friends and family will be held October 12, from 3 until 5 at Villas by the Lake Club House, 570 Caribbean Drive, Lakeland, FL.
