Judith Ann Steward (ne Moore) passed away at her home in Woolwich Township, NJ on August 26, 2013. She was 83.
Judy is survived by her husband, Harry; her son, James (Patricia) of Media, PA; her son, Jonathan (Robin) of Woolwich Township; and her grandchildren Megan, Christian, Justin, Heather, and Mason.
Judy was born and grew up on the family dairy farm, known as Strawberry Vale, in West Deptford, NJ. A graduate of Paulsboro High School and Pierce Junior College, Judy worked for many years at Campbell Soup Company, starting in the mail room in 1948 and retiring as an executive secretary in marketing. Judy later worked with NJ Farm Bureau and Abbott Laboratories where she was administrative assistant in their regional sales office.
Soon after marrying in 1954, Judy moved to the Steward family farm in Woolwich Township where she resided for the remainder of her life. Judy was active in many local organizations. Like her Mother before her, Judy served as Worthy Matron of the Swedesboro Chapter of the Order of The Eastern Star in 1969. She was appointed to the first Gloucester County Library Commission in 1977. She was elected to both the Swedesboro-Woolwich and Kingsway Regional Boards of Education and was President of the Swedesboro-Woolwich PTA. She served on the Swedesboro Boy Scout Troop 13 committee, earning her Wood Badge certification. She was an avid genealogist and member of the Red Bank chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as chapter regent and district registrar.
Judy is also survived by her sister, Kathryn Moore, of West Deptford, NJ. Judy was pre deceased by her parents, Harry Adelbert and Mary, and her siblings Harry Adelbert, Jr, Henrietta, and Harold.
Visitation Friday 9am until the service at 11am at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES 171 Delaware St. Woodbury, NJ. Interment Eglington Cemetery.
