Obituary
Joseph F. Mucci, age 92 of West Deptford, NJ left this life on April 29, 2022.
Joe started life during the depression in Paulsboro, NJ. Born July 10th,1929, 1st born son (brother Fred) of Mildred and Fred Mucci. He played football at Paulsboro high school and was voted most popular by his classmates. He excelled in wrestling and placed 2nd at the NJ State Wrestling Championship.
He married his high school sweetheart, Antoinette Caratura. He would joke saying "she couldnt get any boyfriends, and I couldnt get any girlfriends, so we got married". The truth was that they were everything to each other and never spent a day apart during their 68 year marriage. Together they raised two sons. Joseph and his wife Deborah, grandchildren Natalie and her husband Chris Cramer and Michael & Carlo and his wife Yvonne, granddaughter Alicia and her husband Kevin Montminy and great granddaughter Antoinette.
He is a proud Navy veteran, with 4 years service during the Korean war, stationed on the Shangri-La aircraft carrier. After an honorable discharge he worked as a talented welder for DuPont at the Deepwater plant.
Joe was an athletic guy his whole life, running, weightlifting, and bicycling. He loved his grandkids more than anything. Alicia and PopPop shared a very close relationship. When she came to their house, shed say hi Grandmom, wheres PopPop. They had elaborate games of dollies and singing. They were each others best friend till the day he passed.
Joe loved Antoinettes cooking and singing all the old songs, not just a verse or two, but the entire song. Towards the end, this is how he expressed himself. We will miss hearing Chatanooga Choo-Choo, I Had But 50 Cents, How Are Things In Glocca Mora, and My Best To You.
His favorite sayings were "You may not be the best, but youre as good as the best" and "I put you in Gods Hands". Thats where he is now. How wonderful it was to be part of a life well lived. Joe will be laid to rest at the Veterans Cemetery in Williamstown, NJ.
