Jean Wilson Risley Davis, age 87, died peacefully at home in Woodbury, on Friday, May 15, 2015. The cause was complications from Parkinson 's Disease. She was the loving wife of John E. Davis. She died surrounded by family in her beloved home of 59 years.
Jean Wilson Risley was born March 22, 1928 in Moscow, PA to Dora and J. Vaughn Risley. She graduated from Woodbury High School in 1945 and attended Drexel Business School. She and John married in 1969. She worked in a variety of secretarial and office management positions before retiring. Her first marriage to Louis A. North ended in divorce.

To all who knew her, Jean was unwavering in her love and commitment to her family, town, community, and church. She was passionate about many causes, including the Presbyterian Church at Woodbury, The Woodbury Old Town Restoration Committee, The Woodbury High School Alumni Association, Woodbury Little League and Woodbury Babe Ruth League, and numerous others. She contributed generously to her favorite charities and encouraged others to do the same.

Jean lived her entire life in the hometown she loved so much, Woodbury. In retirement she and her beloved John traveled widely to visit friends and family across the U.S. and in Europe and Australia. She was a loyal and devoted friend and maintained contact with childhood friends and neighbors throughout her life. Most of all, she and John cherished their annual vacation in Stone Harbor, NJ, where they were surrounded by their children and grandchildren.

Survivors include loving husband John of Woodbury; sons, Commander Louis A. North, USN (Ret) and his wife Rachel, of Alexandria, VA; Robert V. North and his wife Leslie of Great Falls, VA; Thomas M. North, Esq., and his wife Laura; stepsons, John E. Davis, Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Burlington, VT; Brigadier General Robert (Larry) Davis, US Army (Ret) and his wife Barbara of Huntington Beach, CA; and Craig Davis of Chamblee, GA, sister Anne R. Arnold and her husband Captain John E. Arnold, USN (Ret), of McLean, VA., 7 grandchildren, Louis, Virginia, Julianne, Jane, Ted, Paige, and Daniel, and 3 step-grandchildren, Kim, John, and Dia.

Visitation Thursday 5 to 7pm at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL HOME 171 Delaware St. Woodbury, NJ and Friday at the Presbyterian Church at Woodbury, 67 S. Broad St. Woodbury, NJ from 9am until the service at 10am. Interment Eglington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to The Presbyterian Church at Woodbury, 67 South Broad Street, Woodbury, NJ , Heifer International (www.Heifer.org), St Jude's Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), or World Vision (www.WorldVision.org).
