Esther R. Firth

Esther R. Firth (nee Perkins), 77, of Oak Valley, passed away on April 25, 2016. Esther was born in Delaware Twp. and resided in National Park before moving to Oak Valley in 1961. She was a lunch aid at Pine Acres Elementary School for 42 years and a supervisor at Evergreen Printing in Bellmawr.

She loved bowling, fishing, and boating with her late husband Jack and family, and was frequently found camping with the Winnie Wanderers and the New Jersey Nomads. She played softball for the Astrostorm Rockettes and coached girls' softball in Oak Valley. She played bingo weekly at St. Clare and Most Holy Redeemer, and was a die-hard Phillies and Eagles fan.

She was a dedicated Scoutmom and saw her sons and grandson earn their Eagle Scout awards. She was also a dedicated band parent, involved in her sons' extracurricular activities, and always had a seat at the 50 yard line for all of her grandchildren's marching band and color guard competitions, football games, and field hockey games. She never missed a family barbecue, pool party, or holiday dinner. She was famous (at least, among her grandkids) for her grilled cheese and her mac & cheese. She took her burgers extra extra well done.

Esther was predeceased by her husband John Collins Firth Jr. and her son Joseph Casey. She is survived by her son John Casey (Frannie) Firth Sr., sister Violet "Bitsy" Carney, daughter-in-law Ellen Fertch, and 4 grandchildren: John Casey Jr., Lyndzie, Emily, & Jamie Firth.

Visitation Thursday 6 to 8 pm & Friday 9 am until the service at 10 am at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES 171 Delaware St. Woodbury, NJ 08096. Interment in Woodbury Memorial Park.
