Esther (nee Fisher) Albertson Duncan passed away at home on Sunday morning November 23, 2014. She was 94 years old.
Born to George and Xenia Fisher on May 11, 1920, Esther was a lifelong resident of Woodbury. A 1939 graduate of Woodbury High School, she worked as the luncheonette manager at Ralen's Drugstore and later at Whalen's Coffee Shop in Woodbury where she met her first husband Charles "Chick" Albertson. They were married in 1942 and had two daughters Carol Ann and Caren.
Chick passed away in 1962 after a brief illness. Esther returned to work at the Gloucester County National Bank and Trust Company and later worked at the Sears & Roebuck catalog center in Woodbury.
In 1968 she married Ernest P. Duncan Jr. Esther and Ernie were married for 32 years. He passed away in 2001.
Esther was a very active member of Kemble Memorial United Methodist Church for 77 years. She taught children's Sunday school and the adult Ladies Bible Class for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women's Deborah Circle serving as its leader. She chaired and co-chaired the Annual Kemble Bazaar for several years and assisted the Finance Committee. She also served as a Girl Scout troop leader for both her daughters.
Esther enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting and making crafts.
She is predeceased by her sisters Mary Zane and Lillian Fisher, and brothers George and Nathan.
Esther will be missed by her loving daughters Carol Ann Brestle of Clementon and Caren Albertson of Woodbury; grandson James C. Brestle Sr. of St. Augustine, FL; granddaughter Jenifer Brestle of Voorhees; great-grandson James C. Brestle, Jr. of Tampa, FL; and her daughters' friends Dan Hornick of Clementon and George Ivins of Mantua.
She is also survived by stepson Ernest Duncan III and stepdaughter Carol Davis and their families.
Her viewing will be held at Davis Wagner Funeral Home on Friday, November 28 10:00 am until 12:00 noon followed by a service at noon. Interment will be at Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro.
