Ella Marie Yates, age 63 of Woodbury, NJ went home to be with her Lord after an extended illness. She is survived by her husband Brian; 2 children, Karen (John) of Greenville, SC; and Brian Jr. (Heather) of Jenkintown, PA; her mother Ruth; sisters, Sue (Bob), and Sarah (Glenn); and brothers, Charles (Grace), and Tim (Lisa). Ella Marie is the eldest daughter of Walter J. and Ruth Wells Olinda of Westville Oaks, NJ.
Born in Philadelphia in 1946, she graduated from Camden County Christian Day School, and Deptford HS where she was a member of the marching band (1965). She married in 1967 and spent a year in Berlin, Germany with her husband Brian as he served in the Army. She later attended Glassboro State College (Rowan University) and graduated cum laude with a B.S. Elementary Education, and later received a Masters in Library Science from Drexel University.
Ella Marie served as a teacher at Kings Christian School, she worked in multiple capacities at Friends of Israel Ministries, a librarian for West Deptford Library, a contract librarian for Mobil Research, and last as a Media Specialist at Cherry Hill West HS, retiring in 2006.
Ella Marie was an avid outdoors person, and enjoyed the outdoors with her family. She earned her Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification and volunteered with the American Red Cross. She was an accomplished canoeist and ARC Canoe Instructor. She is a lifetime member of NRA and participated in competitive shooting.
Ella Marie was a long time active member of The Bible Church of Westville, served as church clerk for many years and played the flute at the various services.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family 7 to 9 pm on Sunday and 10 to 11 am on Monday, at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES 171 Delaware St. Woodbury, NJ., where funeral services will be held at 11am. Interment will be held at Eglington Cemetery.
