Donald H. Waters

December 31, 1943 — February 14, 2020

Donald Waters, a pharmacologist and lifelong music lover, passed away after his 4-year battle with cancer at the age of 76.
Don is survived by his wife Dale Redfield Waters; daughters, Laura Waters and Amy MacQuarrie; brother Mike Waters; grandchildren Lauren, Victoria, Andrew, Spencer & Ciaran; great-grandchildren Caroline, Gabriela, Ava, Nicholas, Lilith, Cecelia & Mary.
He was predeceased by his parents, Hilton Biddle Waters & Margaret Mosley Waters; his great-grandchildren Ellie, Molly & Liam.
Don was born on December 31, 1943 at The Breakers Hotel, Palm Beach, Florida. During the end of WW II, the hotel had been converted into an Army hospital and he was one of the few babies born there before it was decommissioned.
He graduated From Pitman High School in 1962; recieved his bachelors degree in 1966 at The Philadelphia School of Pharmacy and Science; received his PHD at Cornell University Graduate School of Medical Sciences in 1973.
Don worked as a professor at SUNYAB, SWOSU and WVU universities and was always heavily involved in pharmaceutical research.He was thought of highly by scores of students and received Teacher of the Year for many consecutive years.
He eventually went into the industry aspect of research and development to become Director of Clinical Research as well as Vice President and President of Rosemont Pharmaceutical Co. In later years, he had become sought by many as a consultant.
As a young man, Don was very active in sports, particularly baseball.In 1964, the New York Dodgers were interested in recruiting him as a pitcher for their team.However, he turned them down to pursue the world of Medicine. Don almost always took an opportunity to play a little catch in the yard with nearly all the children in his life.
We will miss him deeply as he takes a piece of each of our hearts.
Visitation Thursday 1pm until the service at 2pm at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL HOME 171 Delaware St. Woodbury, NJ. Interment Eglington Cemetery. Memories and condolencesmay be shared online at daviswagner.com
