Anne W. Herbst

Anne W. Herbst (nee Walsh), 99, of Pitman passed away on March 5, 2025.

Anne was born on September 30, 1925, to John Kelly Walsh and his wife Genvieve Bohen in Pittston, PA. She was raised in Newfield, and resided in Oaklyn, the Greenfields section of West Deptford, and in DeLand FL for 25 years before moving to Pitman recently.

Anne received her RN degree from Misericordia Hospital nursing program, and after raising her family, attended the first ever RN refresher course at Gloucester County College in 1995. She started her nursing career at Underwood Memorial Hospital and soon became the head nurse on the sixth floor. She loved traveling with her husband. For 15 years they led groups from St. Margaret’s parish and retired educators to Ireland and other European countries. They also organized many family travel experiences. Their passion was cruising. Anne was a skilled bridge player who continued this pastime well into her late 90’s, and an avid reader. Wherever Anne resided she became an active member of the local Catholic Parrish. She was a charter member of St. Margarets Parrish in Woodbury Heights, contributing greatly toward the construction of the church. In Florida she was a member of St. Peters Parrish in DeLand, becoming a Eucharistic Minister and serving residents of her assisted living facility.

Anne was predeceased by her husband William, sisters Mary Gen Kennedy and Ellen Crum, and her brother John Kelly Walsh. She is survived by her children William (Paula) Herbst, John R. (Judy) Herbst, James A. Herbst and Mary Beth Leete; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22nd at 9:00 AM until the memorial service at 9:30 at DAVIS WAGNER FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 171 Delaware St., Woodbury, NJ.
