Alys S. Martin

Alys S. Martin (nee Sampson), 94, of Woodbury, passed away on October 26, 2018. Alys was born in Asbury Park, NJ and has resided in Woodbury since 1945. Alys received her Bachelors degree from Trenton State Teachers College and her Masters degree from Temple University. She was an Educator for the City of Woodbury at the Carpenter Street School from 1945 to 1962 and at the West End School from 1962 until her retirement in 1980. She received the Oldest living school teacher award of the Carpenter Street School. Alys was a communicant of Christ Episcopal Church and a life time member of their choir. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, camping and bowling.
Alys was predeceased by her husband Leon Martin in 2000; her son Leon S. Martin in 1971 and her sister Mary Ross. She is survived by her daughter Carolynn E. Martin of San Francisco, CA.
Mass of Christian Burial 11am Thursday November 1, 2018 at Christ Episcopal Church 62 Delaware Street Woodbury, NJ 08096 under the direction of the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES Woodbury, NJ.
